A large new retail bike shop opened up in Auckland, within a stand-alone complex with a large expanse of glazing along the frontage. Within a few weeks, the shop had a break in, where the front window was smashed and over 25 bikes stolen.
The bike shop owners realised they had to prepare their vulnerable shop from future break ins and asked GlassProtech for advice on securing their retail premises.
The solution was to install an ultra-tough security film on the glass panes and bond them to the window frames, making it very difficult to break through. Whilst not providing a 100% guarantee for breakages, the windows and door were greatly strengthened and when the burglars revisited the shop a few weeks, later, they had great difficulties trying to break through the glass with a 30 kg drainage grate. This time they managed to only steal four bikes, due to the delay in gaining access to the shop, greatly reducing the loss to the business.
